Joachim Schepke was the commander of the highly-successful WWII U-boat U-100. He is remembered far better, though, as what the propaganda ministry was determined to label as the "definitive U-boat commander". He was a close friend of top-scoring U-boat Ace Otto Kretschmer, though since he was...eliminated so early in the war he does not seem to be remembered as much as Otto.
